I found this pattern one night when I was ever so bored while working. I wanted a simple, quick too knit mitten pattern and stumbled upon this one:
http://www.creativeknittingmagazine.com/newsletters.php?mode=issue&issue_id=381&department_id=75
It looks funny at first when you put them on, cause they do not sit right on your hand. This is the first pair of mittens that I had to block, and the results were so worth the blocking.
I had posted a picture of one mitten that was completed.............and I had a lot of people wanting these mittens. One lucky lady lucked out in getting them first, Steve's mom, she has good taste in color, cause fern green is my favorite color. I had left over yarn from the green goblin sweater that I had made myself, thought it would make a real nice pair of mittens. I am very pleased with the results, I am also going to make more of these mittens however I will be alternating the pattern in them, try to make them a bit different. Will post pictures when other pairs are completed so you can see the difference.

White n Rose Baby Blanket
My mom gave me the challenge to make a baby blanket for someone at her work. I said sure why not, been a while since I had made one. I asked her what colors that she thought that this girl would like for her blanket, she said " soft white and a soft rose". I thought it would make a nice arrangement to have the soft rose on the inside and the soft tinseled white on the outside, it'll make the rose pop out more.
It was a brilliant idea, the rose did pop out way more due to the type of white yarn I used on the exterior, it had a tinsel intertwined with it. Made it look kind of like snow flake yarn in a way, gave it a nice sheen to it.
A blanket like this takes me at least a good week to make, that is if I don't have any other little side projects on the side, like always having a pair of socks on the go......what....I can't help myself.

The Brown Hat
I found this hat on the ravelry site, I thought it looked a little funny, but it also looked like fun to knit. I didn't have the same kind of yarn that the pattern had called for, so I decided to see what I could find in my stash.
I decided to try in a size large, I could tell by the number of stitches that called for the small or medium would not fit me at all, and considering that I was not using the same yarn as mentioned in the pattern.
It was very clever in the way that the brim was made, by knitting 12 rounds of stockinette st, purl one row, and 12 more rows of stockinette st, added thickness to the brim. I followed the pattern, however didn't knit as many repeats as it called for, I stopped at 9, due to I didn't want the hat too look so slouchy.
As you can see in this close up, I only decided after the fact to add my initial to the hat, good old knitting central pattern for lettering. Didn't want to add a plain letter, wanted to put something nice, so I picked this one, turned out pretty good after all.

Green Goblin Aran Sweater
I always wanted to make an aran sweater, however I could never find a pattern that I really liked. I stumbled upon some old knitting patterns from Sidar and I really liked the texture and look of some of the sweaters.
I decided to knit one using Briggs and Little Tuffy weight wool in Fern color.
This sweater was a little bit tricky at the beginning, especially when adding the pockets and trying not to make it so visible. I find they turned out pretty darn good if you ask me.........The cabling pattern was fun and easy to follow, not difficult at all, my hands did get stiff after a while, but that doesn't help when you knit for 4 hours straight either without taking any breaks.
I never thought when knitting the sweater, on the side where the seams were going to be, to knit 2 sts on the ends on right side row, and purl 2 sts at each end on wrong side row. This would have given me a seamless sweater by using the mattress stitch method, which would have made the sweater easier to piece and sew together. Oh well, there's always going to be another sweater that will be knitted later on, that is guaranteed, and I will try the knit 2 sts on each end to see what the end result will be. Never know, I might not like it either, it will all depend on how the fabric will lay it's self out when sewing and piecing it together.

Can I say MMMMMMMMMMerino wool socks
My friend, Catalina, sent me a few knitting books down my way for me too keep, love getting free stuff.
So I thought, what a better way to say thank you other then knitting her a pair of merino wool socks. This pattern is called the hourglass, it also has garter stitch edge for the heel which makes it sssssuuuuuppppppeeeeerrrrrrrrr easy to pick up those darn heel stitches.
When I was looking through my stuff, I found a shawl that I crochet quite some time ago and never really used it. I thought to myself, Cat could probably use this shawl, she works nights, it gets chilly at times....................why not...............I already had made one just like it.
I also sent her a few goodies, left over yarn from the shawl, at least 3 skeins of quebec handpsun wool, plus the left over of the merino wool, might have enough to make something small with it. Off to the post office I go, stuffed everything in a bag, and to toronto it goes making it's way to Cat's hands.

Cleaning lady's socks
I think the title says it all. When I use to work at the center, now I work from home, the cleaning lady use to come visit me every morning when she was in. From time to time when it was not busy, I use to knit on socks or whatever project that I would have brought in with me that day.
Diana aka "cleaning lady" has tormented me for the past 2 years to get me to knit her some socks. I decided that after 2 years of asking me for a pair..........why not, she deserved them....lol.
Now, this is an original pattern that I will not post on this blog as of yet, due to I want to get it copyrighted first, however, the method that I used to knit these socks were with the magic loop. I have never knitted a pair of socks as fast as these ones before, usually it would take me about 1 week for one sock. These socks took me approximately 8 days to make both socks, so I have cut my production time in half. There were new methods that I have applied to these socks that I have never used before and, I have to admit, they turned out very well.
Diana, you are one lucky cleaning lady, beware, others might get jealous.

Rainbow colored fingers
Been searching for quite some time now for a glove pattern and had no luck in finding one. So I decided to make my own, after all, is that not what knitter's do? As Elizabeth Zimmermann would say "I re-invented something".
The materials that I used was noro sock yarn, 2.5mm needles, should have used 2.25mm, would have been a snugger fit, but oh well. For my first attempt at making a pair of gloves I think it turned out alright, going try to felt them at least once, not by alot, I still want them to fit me........lol.......
There's no pattern for this.........yet.......something that I created on the top of my head, so if you are looking for a pattern, please be patient, will take me some time to remember how I made the darn things.
Both gloves are different in color, which I find very interesting and cool, something different and an easy way to remember which gloves goes on which hand.
